Day
Five
Yosemite National Park
(Lisa)
When we were in
Yosemite several years ago, we unfortunately had to leave the park due to
some motorcycle problems. We were able to see a bit of the park but not the
sites that so many people recommended for us to see.
In May 2009 when Joey
and I were blessed with the new motorcycle, we were eager to book a trip for
us to see the beautiful countryside God created.
In May 2007, my mom was
sharing with us the most beautiful place on earth that she had ever seen…
Glacier Point in Yosemite. .. referred to it as the closest thing to heaven
on earth. My mom has since gone on to be in Heaven and is able to experience
Heaven every day. She encouraged us to be sure to return to Yosemite one day
and experience Glacier Point.
Joey came home from work, eager to book our
trip to Yosemite and secure a beautiful stay in the historic Wawona Hotel
allowing us time to explore the park. We arose to a beautiful sunrise,
hopped on the motorcycle to travel up to Glacier Point.
Glacier Point… wow! God is so gracious to create such a massive,
gorgeous view for us to see. We were in awe of the beauty, the magnitude,
the depth, the incredible view! I felt so very small. The verse in the Bible,
where God knows every single hair on your head, came
to mind… He is so amazing!
The views are indescribable! Joey’s camera mounted to the motorcycle is the
closest thing to “being there” but I pray that everyone who can go see these
sites for themselves… do.
Crowds arrive and are silenced by the majesty of God’s beauty. The song
“Show Me Your Glory by Lakewood Church” rang through my mind as we walked
from viewing area to viewing area.
Show me Your glory. Show
me Your glory.
I want to gaze into the beauty of Your holiness.
and show me Your glory, I'm desperate to see,and
I will be still as You reveal Your glory.
After visiting Glacier Point, we ventured on to Yosemite Valley to climb the
Bridalveil Fall, capture El Capitan’s magnificence, and the other beautiful
sites of Yosemite. While we were in Yosemite Valley, we ate at the Food
Court… tons of people in a small place does not make for a fun time.
However, the cute little squirrels who decided to “help themselves” to our
fries made for a joyful memory.

This day started out
somewhat early but not so early that I had to force Lisa out of bed, but
close...
Once on the bike we
headed up to see Glacier point. This being, without a doubt, one of the
most beautiful places you will ever see in your life. The size of the
distant mountains, the depth of the valley directly below you and the water
falls across the valley... All breathe taking.
From there, we
headed back down to the valley stopping along the way for many scenic turn
outs and views. One of the places being the water falls which in themselves
were very beautiful.
With the time being
noon, we decided to head into the valley to grab a bite to eat and a few
souvenirs for our trip. This being a coffee cup and a sticker for the
trailer.
Yosemite Valley in
its self is a site you must see. The towering cliffs that rise up thousands
of feet on both sides of the valley as this crystal clear river runs along
the road side. "Beautiful." And El Capitan, the largest rock in the
world.... Super huge!

Then? Then you
realize all the people down in the valley. Most of which are either waiting
in line for a hamburger or waiting to catch a bus up to Glacier Point. A
place that you already seen. “Now aren’t you glad you got up early this
morning Mrs. Lisa.”
Now with lunch
finished and souvenirs in hand, we jump back on the bike and ride out of the
valley to escape all the people and ride. As to where, nowhere in
particular, just away from the peopley.
Day four's travels took us from
San Simeon State Park to Yosemite National Park. 296 miles in
11 hours averaging out about 36 miles per hour.
