Day Nine – Back in TEXAS!!!!
From Lathrop State Park, Colorado - Abilene, Texas
Summary:
After a few more miles riding through the Colorado Mountains we will be making that southern turn once more on Interstate-25. At this point, I am quite sure Lisa and I will be getting pretty home sick. Although the riding is great, there is no better place than that which we call home. TEXAS!
From Interstate-25 we will make a short run down Interstate-40 before turning off toward Fort Summer and then into TEXAS.
Once in Texas we will be needing to pull over to the side of the road to make a phone call to a family member that lives in Lubbock to see what time they want to meet for a glass of ice-tee. That and -- of course a few pictures of us near the sign that says, "Welcome to Texas!"
After a nice visit with family we will be back on the road for a hour or so before finding a Hotel to call it a night.
Note: Strange thing with these bike rides. No matter where we go or how long we have been gone, once we cross that Texas border a little radar goes off in my head that says, "Go Home." And when the bell goes off, "Your are in Texas. Home is only a few miles away..." Don't believe it. Texas is huge and is still a good days ride to get there.
