The wood I have chosen to go with is red wood that I picked up at the local home improvement shop. This being a process in it's self. With most home improvement shops, what they carry for hardwoods is limited and in this case, I moved every board off of the shelves and hand picked the best ones. | |

The width of each board for this long bed, 1948 GMC with 9 boards are as followed:
Boards 1 & 9 = 4-1/2" Boards 2 & 9 = 5" Boards 3,4,6 & 7 = 5-1/2" Board 5 (center board) 6-3/8"

| Having a neighbor that is into wood working, it made cutting the wood much easier and cheaper than me having to go out and buy a table saw. | ||
| After taking the wood back out of the bed, the bed was lifted and the truck rolled underneath the bed and then lowered down. | ||
| Bed on the truck with wood back in one more time. With the wood in the bed, it was out of the way and protected. | ||
| Bed setting on frame with temporary blocking while the wood gets stained and coated with urethane. | ||
| Before staining the wood, with a small rotary tool, I cut little groves about a foot long from the edge of the board to the lowest part in the long groove at the same depth as that groove. This way water would have a way to run out. | ||
