After a few light coats of self-etching primer and then a few coats of filler primer the new bed was let up next to on old bed side to transfer over the needed measurements to drill holes for the fenders.

After transferring over the measurements I grabbed one of the new fenders to double check my markings and would you believe, the new fender holes did not match.  They did not match the marks I made or the existing holes on the old bed side.

So with a bit of head scratching, I decided to leave it without holes until it is ready to mount the fenders and at that point I will line up the new fenders where I want them, mark the holes and then drill.

Another item I noticed on the new bed sides was there was not hole for the gas filler tube and cap.

At this point, two options laid out on the table, I could simply grab a whole saw and cut out a new hole and leave it or cut out the old hole and weld it in place.  The first would be the easiest but the second would be the correct way...  So the hard way it is.  Cut out the old and weld into the new.

First thing I needed to do was to cut out the old hole and that was done with a cut off wheel.

After a few minutes in the blasting cabinet and a little sanding, the old whole was located on the new bed side measuring from edge of bed to cut lines and then clamped down.

Before cutting, drew out a few lines where I wanted the new cuts to be.

Starting off with the cut off wheel, cut through both metals (old and new) at the same time and finishing the corners and areas I could not get to with a high speed saw.
