Here it is after the final polish.

Here it is after the final polish.

The hood has now been mounted with a few small final adjustments needed.  Also in this picture is the GMC emblem now mounted after getting it back from the chrome shop.

The chrome shop I used is a local shop here in Houston. (www.justchromeit.com)

Overall, I would say I am happy with the chrome work.

In order to mount the hood I used three different points to lift the hood using ropes and pulleys.

After getting the hood flipped back over after securing the two halves together.  It was lifted and the truck rolled under the hood.

Slowly lowering the back of the hood down, it was bolted into place.

Over all the hood is about where it needs to be.  There are a few more adjustments that need to be made but that will take place after the hood latch and pin has all be bolted into place.

Problems with the polished stainless hood strip:  First off, the strip did not follow the profile of the hood and had to be gently bent to follow the line of the hood.  Next, the bolt that was soldered on the front end came off real easily and the little tabs that were to hold the strip down are flimsy and don't work well.  So to fix all this, I used double sided exterior tape to hold it all in place.  A pain to put all together but worked out ok.  Just don't like the fact that with the thickness of the tape, the center strip does not sit right against the hood but as long as I don't point it out, I don't think anyone would notice.

Center strip before taping down.

You can see here how it did not completely follow the lines of the hood.  At the front toward the bottom you can see the spacing between the strip and the hood.
