Fuel tank after cleaning | |
| 'Rust Converter' Another lesson
learned. Once applied it looked alright and even though the label on the can read that it had a good solid base for painting on... It rubbed off pretty easily. No more can rust converter or anything else in a can from the local parts house. |
||
| Once again the tank has been cleaned. | ||
| This time it was sand blasted and
primed with the good stuff. I have now bought a couple of good paint guns (HVLP) and made a trip down to the local PPG distributor. The primer I am using at this point is an Epoxy none sandy, self etching. Latter on I will learn how to use the paint guns... as for the primer on the tank now, rather thick, bumpy and ready to be block sanded. Which I am planning on doing before I paint it for the last time. |

| The inside of the tank was in
remarkable shape. There was very little debris. Most of which I
knocked in taking the sending unit off along with the filler neck. No rust, no signs of ware and will leave the inside alone. Just keep it sealed off and out of the elements. |
