After disassembling the pump, I blasted the out side the housing with glass bead and then using compressed air, blew out the remaining media.  Then with carburetor cleaner, to ensure all the media was cleaned out, I sprayed it well then dried the parts.

 

Once clean and dry, ran the two main parts under the buffing wheel to eliminate that dole finish and give it a slight shine.  For the areas that could not be reached with the buffing wheel, I used a small rotary tool with a few buffing attachments.

 

With the retaining loop, bell and screw:  Blasted, sanded, cleaned and then zinc plated.

 

Reassembled using a rebuild kit I ordered and mounted it back on the engine.
