Casting numbers off the head show the heads to belong to that of a 228. This being what lead me to think the block was a 228 and not a 248. | |

| Here is the engine almost complete. Still have to powder coat the carburetor and the harmonic balancer. After that, bend new gas and vacuum lines. | ||

The distributor was taken apart, cleaned and powder coated. Replaced the cap, rotor and plug wires along with the coil.
All powders used on the engine are high temp with the exception of that going on the carburetor. |

The exhaust manifold was a problem to get clean. Regardless how long I spent with the media blaster, it would not come clean enough to coat with porcelain like originally planed. Which is a good thing because after applying porcelain to the intake manifold and curing in the oven for a few hours, it still scratched off fairly easily.
So here are the exhaust and intake manifolds after cleaning and cleaning with a fresh coat of high temp powders.
New manifold studs with brass nuts look real good. Match all the existing brass fittings that have been cleaned and polished. |
