Under side of the cab now complete with the exception of the driver side floorboard and toeboard...  for this, I am still waiting on the new patch panels to come in.

This order was placed with "Brothers" almost five weeks ago and no word on when it will be in.  At first I was promised I would have the part on the 14th and that was two weeks ago.  When I check the status on their web site, it says, "On Back Order."  I have sent a few emails checking on the status and yet to receive a reply...  Maybe they are busy, don't care or don't like me.  Either way, I need to give them a call.

I don't mind the part taking so long to come in, what I don't like is a due date that is stated and then never followed up on.

A simple email would do them real good about right now.  Otherwise, this will be my last order with them.

Top of the cab after priming.

[Primer applied: Dupont self etching.]

Due to the underlying rust under the doors drip edge I felt best to remove them by drilling out the spot welds and removing all the rust.

After cleaning the metal, I tapped off the surrounding areas and sprayed on some weld-thru primer.

Tapped off because with weld-thru primer, other primers or paints won't stick.  So you have to be careful to remove any and all exposed weld-thru primer.

Here is a picture of the drip edge after welding back on.  Welded of course through the drill holes that was made when drilling through the existing spot welds.

At this point, the driver's side floor board is now complete and primed with a Dupont sandable or build-up primer.

Also, the driver's side floor board has been replaced and any other metal work has been completed.  Seeing there were many pictures taken of the right side floor board, I elected to put away the camera for the driver's side but the process was the same.

Once the cab had been primed with the first coat of primer, it was wet sanded with 220 grip paper.  This process taking over 40 hours to do.

'I never realized how long it would take to sand down the cab and yet I have another coat to spray on and sand again.'

After sanding and the cab washed, I went back over the cab with a small flash light.  Being very picky, I marked any areas with a marker that needed to be touched up.
